Mitoni

Mitoni is derived from a Javanese word ’pitu’ which mean seven. Mitoni is a sacred ceremony for javanese. Before mother gives her first birth, the family holds a sacred ceremony when pregnancy is seven month old. It is hoped that the mother and baby be safe and healthy. The young couple who are going to have their first baby should be bathed in such a way the tradition in Java. The young man who is going his first baby should avoid bad or wicked activities such as killing animals. Each activity at this mitoni ceremony have a thousand meaning Such as:
a. Take a bath with flower represent ceremony symbol as statement sanctify mother, body and soul. This activity named Siraman.
b. Input chicken's egg ceremony into mother’s cloth by her husband. This ceremony is executed baby can born easily
c. Brojolan ceremony or input a couple of young coconut. This ceremony is executed baby can born easily
d. Use 7 traditional clothes (batik) ceremony. This ceremony is executed baby to measure up to kindliness
e. Broken yarn ceremony by father. This ceremony is executed baby can born safely
f. Break jar ceremony (gerabah)
g. Drink jamu Ceremony (traditional drink)
h. Steal egg ceremony (nyolong endhog). This ceremony is executed baby can born swiftly.
