Mountain Resort

Most of the land in Indonesia is mountainous with some active volcanoes. The mountains are still beneficial because of the craters, lakes, and sulfates. These places usually become the objects of tourism. Volcanoes rock is used in the manufacture of building materials and volcanic heat is capable of generating electricity. In west Sumatra we have KerinciMountain, in west java there are Tangkuban Perahu and Guntur Mountain, Central java has Merbabu; Slamet and Merapi Mountain, Jogjakarta has Merapi Mountain, East java has Kelud, Bali has Agung and Batur Mountain. West Nusa Tenggara has Rinjani Mountain and there are still many other Mountains.

1. Tangkuban Perahu mountain of West Java
Mount Tangkuban Perahu lies about 29 kilometers from Bandung (West Java). It is very beautiful mountain. The scenery is very wonderful with many kinds of green trees. Many domestic tourists and foreign tourists visit there in their holidays. They can go there by car or motor-cycle.
The mountain has ten craters and most famous ones are “Ratu Crater, Upas crater, and Domes crater”. We will be happy if we get there. When we get to the top of the mountain we can see the craters. The craters look dangerous but they are not. We can enjoy good scenery there. The weather is also very cold but we are happy enjoy it. The sky is always cloudy every time.

2. Merbabu Mountain of Solo the Spirit of Java

Gebyok is the name of village in Selo-Boyolali ( part of Solo area). It lies on the slope of Mount Merbabu. It has fresh air and water. The water comes from the water source (spring water) on the slope of the mountain. The people call it Tuk Babon. The villagers don’t pay bill for using the water.

Most of the people are farmers and the soil is very fertile. Only a few of them are bricklayers, carpenters, mechanics, merchants, and driver. As farmers they grow many kinds of vegetables such as cabbage, carrot, potato, bean, etc. Beside that they also plant corn and tobacco. They can’t grow rice because there is no water for it. They are traditional farmers, they don’t use tractors or ploughs to cultivate their farms, but they use hoes to do it.

Besides cultivating their soil, they also breed cows for their cattle to get milk. It is one reason why Boyolali called Milk City. They milk their cows every day and sell it to the Village Unit Cooperative (Koperasi Unit Desa). They can use their money to fulfill their daily needs and also for paying their children school fee.
